The city was given praise for their innovative takes on 'east meets west' concoctions with an eye toward the food truck start up culture, pop up restaurants, and a city space that privileges mom and pop places over big chain restaurants (similar to San Franscisco).
The speculation is that people will not visit Honolulu simply for the surf and sun anymore, but see it as a food destination in the same way folks see New York, Portland and SF.
Now that is some high praise and high hope for this beloved city!
